Chapter Two Reflection

Chapter Two Reflection: Question # four.
The purpose of input, output, and storage devices were among the topics discussed in chapter two. The input feature of a computer allows for data to be entered into the computer by several means, the most popular being through a keyboard or a mouse. The keyboard lets the user input instructions in the form of numeric and alphabetic symbols. The mouse, a piece of equipment that attaches to the computer, allows the user to make selections and navigate through the computer. Other forms of input include joysticks, scanners, digital cameras and video cameras as well interactive whiteboards. Joysticks are mainly used for gaming purposes. Yet, other input forms such as the interactive whiteboard are commonly used in the classroom. Input technology such as the whiteboard is very beneficial in the school setting because it is a visual representation for students. Output devices allow users to visually represent information that is stored on the computer. The most obvious example of a computer output device is the actual computer monitor. Other such output devices are the printer, speakers, and projectors. The printer is very important in the school setting in that it enables teachers to print out handouts for learning and teaching needs. The printer also allows students to print information for research needs. The projector is also a very useful tool in that it enables a way for an instructor to visually present information to students. Another important aspect of this chapter is that of storage. There are two types of storage internal and external. External storage is very beneficial in that information is portable and students and teachers can carry data with them from school to home.
