Introduction to Blogfolio:

Introduction to the Blog folio:
Welcome to my Blog, here you will find all the assignments I have completed this semester in my computer class IT 365. Also on this blog one can find a chapter reflection for every chapter one through twelve that we have covered in this class. The five NETS-T standards can also be found on this blog with personal reflections and supporting artifacts for each.
I have posted all of the assignments I have done thus far to this blog so that they will be easy to access for my future use and reference. Also, by posting these assignments it allows my peers to review my work and make comments. The chapter reflections have helped me in reviewing what I have learned and expressing this in words. In reflecting on the standards I was able to gain a further understanding of what is expected of me as a future teacher.

NETS-T Reflection No. 5

5. Engage in Professional Growth and Leadership
Teachers continuously improve their professional practice, model lifelong learning, and exhibit leadership in their school and professional community by promoting and demonstrating the effective use of digital tools and resources.
Performance Indication for Teachers:
• Demonstrate the effective use of digital tools and resources to your students.
• Dedicate to a lifestyle that promotes lifelong learning and model this to your students as well as exhibiting leadership.
Reflection:
I believe that this standard is crucial in the world of teaching and technology. Knowledge is always changing and as teachers it is our responsibility to learn new concepts as they come available. Also, teachers should promote that as human beings we should strive to be lifelong learners and never become close minded or stagnant with our learning. As a teacher, you also have the responsibility to model good leadership skills to your students. This role of leadership you hold as a teacher also extends out to being an example to the community because the community will look up to you as well. For this standard the supporting artifacts I chose to use were the web site and the blog. I chose these artifacts because in both of these assignments updates can be made as the times change and new technology come available. I believe these tools will prove to be beneficial in that like knowledge is always changing so can your blog.

Artifacts/ Evidence:
• Web Site
• Blog
Future Learning Goals:
For this standard my future learning goals are to commit to lifelong learning even after I am no longer the student and am a teacher myself. I love to read and I think I will be able to use my love for reading to read about and thus learn about new changes in technology. Also, it is my goal to present myself as a role model to my students and exhibit leadership skills for my students and for the community.

NETS-T Reflection No. 4

4. Promote and Model Digital Citizenship and Responsibility
Teachers understand local and global societal issues and responsibilities in an evolving digital culture and exhibit legal and ethical behavior in their professional practices.
Performance Indicators for Teachers:
• Demonstrate to students as well as promote digital etiquette and citizenship.
• Understand and demonstrate to students the global and societal issues and how they affect the digital world and our professional responsibilities as digital users.
Reflection:
The main artifact that supports this standard is turnitin assignment. In this assignment we answered several questions and converted those questions into a paper in which submitted to turnitin.com to be checked for plagiarism. The point of this lesson was to stress the importance of legal and ethical behavior of students and teachers. It is not ethical to plagiarize and thus this lesson should be instilled in students. By using turnitin.com teachers and students are able to check their work by running it through this website to ensure that the work has not been plagiarized. In completing this assignment I feel that I have met this standard in that I understand the ethical and legal responsibilities of this standard and have thus been able to incorporate this into my schoolwork through this assignment. I also believe the YouTube video assignment meets these requirements in that students must agree that they will not upload any information in which is not an original creation by the individual students.
• You Tube
• Turn It in
Future Learning Goals:
Although I have learned many basic skills as far as technology goes I am not yet a teacher so I have not had the opportunity to use these skills in the classroom yet. However, I hope to expand on all that I have learned and further explore the programs described above so that I can learn all available resources and strategies for using them in my future classroom.

NETS-T Reflection No. 3

3. Model Digital-Age Work and Learning
Teachers exhibit knowledge, skills, and work processes representative of an innovative professional in a global and digital society.
Performance Indicators for Teachers:
• Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to prove an innovative professional both in the global and technological society.
• Work with parents and the community using digital tools to promote use of technology.
Reflection:
One thing I know about technology is that it is forever changing. Thus, as a teacher one must always strive to learn the latest types of technology as to ensure the best possible instruction for your students. One major area of technology that teachers should remain updated in is that of assistive technology. Assistive technology changes as well as all other types of technology and it is crucial that as a teacher one remains updated so as to best benefit any student or students requiring special services through assistive technology. In our assistive technology assignment we were able to research several types of assistive technologies to better understand their functions. Throughout this class we have learned about various types of technology that can be implemented in the classroom with the most recent being the incorporation of websites in the classroom. Websites can be very beneficial to classroom instruction and are fairly easy to create and manipulate and can be used for many purposes including class, parent and community involvement.
• Assistive Technology
• Class Website
Future Learning Goals:
As a future teacher I hope to assist my students in any way possible. I am very interested in assistive technology and hope to explore this field in further detail so as to ensure that all my students have the tools necessary and available to them to promote equal and appropriate learning. I also enjoyed making the website and can not wait to implement this tool in my own classroom.

NETS-T Reflection No. 2

2. Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and Assessments
Teachers design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessment incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize content learning in context and to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes identified in the NETS•S.
Performance Indicators for Teachers:
• Demonstrate an understanding for designing beneficial learning experiences that are developmentally appropriate for the digital age status.
• Demonstrate the ability to successfully create efficient assessments that evaluate authentic learning experiences.
Reflection:
For this standard I believe the following artifacts will provide maximum learning and assessment experiences: The web tools assignments including the rubric, worksheet, puzzle, and quiz. As well as the you tube video and the photo story projects. I believe I met this standard in that upon completion of these assignments I gained valuable knowledge an insight on how to use these tools so that I can implement these strategies in to my own classroom. I believe that in using these tools I will be able to design and evaluate authentic learning experiences. In using the activities in web tools I can go in and personalize student’s activities as well as assessment venues such as quizzes and test. The you tube video will provide an opportunity for students to complete an assignment that they will both enjoy and will assist the students in learning life skills. Photo story is another great tool in which I as a teacher can use or I can allow my students to use. The students could present reports or projects using photo story which would make the presentation visually appealing and photo story is fairly easy to manipulate.
Artifacts/Evidence:
• Web Tools: rubric, worksheet, puzzle, and online quiz
• YouTube video
• PhotoStory
Future Learning Goals:
While using these artifacts can be very beneficial in the classroom I would love to expand on this knowledge and perhaps learn how to even make a movie. Yet, I believe the knowledge I have gained from this experience will provide a strong foundation in which I can build on as I learn more about technology and am able to pass that knowledge on to my students.

NET-S Reflection No. 1

NETS-T Standard Number One:
1.Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity
Teachers use their knowledge of subject matter, teaching and learning, and technology to facilitate experiences that advance student learning, creativity, and innovation in both face-to-face and virtual environments.
Performance Indicators for Teachers:
• Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter through the use of technology in learning and teaching experiences.
• Demonstrate ability to facilitate student learning and creativity through the use of technology.
Reflection:
I have never really been interested in computers outside of my daily basic use for them. I was even intimidated by computers before. However, as this class is coming to an end I have gained a new respect for computers and have a better attitude towards operating them. The artifacts listed below are a few of the assignments I encountered this semester that I know I will be able to implement in to my future classroom to enhance the learning experiences of my students. Through creating and experimenting with these assignments I believe I have a strong knowledge base and will be able to convey this knowledge to my students. For this reason, I believe that I have met this standard through my learning experiences this semester. The following artifacts will help me in demonstrating my achievement in that they are proof that I was able to successfully complete these assignments. Knowledge on how to construct a concept map will be beneficial in allowing me to present knowledge using grouping. The web tools puzzle will allow me to create puzzles that correspond with the lesson thus providing an innovative learning experience for the students. Finally, I can use photo story to present information and images to the students in a creative way. I was even surprised to see how well I did on each assignment despite by initial fear that I would do poorly because I was not computer savvy.
Artifacts/ Evidence:
• Concept Map
• Web Tools: Puzzle
• Photo story
Future Learning Goals:
Though we covered a great deal of useful tools in this class I know that there are still many resources out there that I can learn and implement in my future classroom. Thus, I plan to commit to lifelong learning in technology so that I can always provide my students with up to date learning.

Final Course Reflection

I will definitely leave this class with a whole new outlook on techonology. In the past I only used technology for basic needs and was a little intimidated by using computers for anything but typing papers and social networking. Now however, I have learned so many strategies for using and applying various digital tools in my future classroom as well as in my life.
Before this class I was very strong in using programs such as word and powerpoint. I was strong in using these programs because for the most part these were the only computer programs I had to use thus far in my education. Yet, I was very weak when it came to creating websites or blogs. I had this impression that you had to be a computer professional to create a website. I never dreamed I could create my own website and I was pleased to see how easily I was able to accomplish the task.
In the future I will be able to use what I have learned in this class and apply my knowledge in my own classroom. Also, I will leave this class with a sense of accomplishment. I am no longer so intimidated by computers and technology and I know that I can create a classroom blog or website. I can create a concept map to display information for my students.
I will be able to take what I have learned and integrate technology in my classroom by creating online worksheets and puzzles for my students. I will be able to create original tests and quizzes. I will also be able to implement inspiration to create web maps for the use of the students. I will also be able to create an interactive class blog or website.

Chapter Twelve Reflection

Reflect on ways to use the classroom website with students
In recent years teachers have implemented the use of wesites in the classroom for many reasons. Websites are very efficient and allow students the direct access to valuable resources through hyperlinks. In using hyperlinks students can pull up research materials in a matter of seconds. In doing this students are able to browse independently and have immediate access to classroom materials that the teacher chooses to upload. For example, classroom notes can be posted for the students to review. The use of webistes also helps in the students view of the internet and its relevence to the classroom. The use of websites also allow the students to have access to their teachers to questions or to submit assignments. Websites provide students with experience in using digital resources which will prove to be a life skill.

Chapter Eleven Reflection

Reflect on ways to integrate multimedia tools (slideshows, podcasts, digital stories) into classrooms.

There are many ways that Multimedia tools can be incorporated into the classroom. In todays world, children are growing up in a technology savy world. Thus multimedia presentations can be used as an importnat tool in instruction for the classroom. In using the many aspects of multimedia tools one is able to appeal to the different senses and interest of the studetns in order to sure mazimum learning experiences. Tools such as videios and digital stories can be used to enrich your classroom experincee. These tools can be used for demonstrations and as a way to involve the students in the lesson itself. Multimedia tools do not have to be limited to use by the teacher alone. The students can also use multimedia tools to create products that allow them to express their knowledge and experiences. When students use these tools correctly they will enhance their ultimate learning experience.
Furthmore, aside from teachers and students using multimedia tools, parents can benefit from these tools as well. Through classroom blogs and or websites parents can stay updated about various school activities and events. THese blogs could also be beneficial to the community in that members of the community could see what the students are learning and doing in certain aspects of the classroom.

Chapter Seven Reflection

Reflect on ways to integrate digital images into your classroom.
Digital images can be implemented in the classroom in many ways as well as for many different types of students.Digital images however cab be very beneficial for those students dealing with disabilities. Digital images can be used to help students simply by having another avenue for learning. In using digital images students are able to hear the lesson as well as visually see images and points of the lesson in another way. Also, it will help students who can not hear be able to see concepts that can not hear. Teachers can implement this strategy by adding subtitles to the images. Digital images can be used for all learners using this same idea. Images can help students stay engaged in a lesson or can help clarify a concept that does not quite make sense.
Images can also be uploaded to a class website for parents to view so as to stay involved in what their children a re doing. Also, images can be sent to organizations and newspapers to promote learning and classroom awareness.

Chapter Four Reflection

Reflect on the types of documentation that is needed for the supporting documentation section of the portfolio?

One of the main focuses in this chapter as far as supporting documents need for a portfolio is a table of contents. The table of contents ensures that your portfolio is accessible to the user. It is very important that your table of contents is located at the beginning of your portfolio so that it can be found easily. The table of contents helps with the navigation of your portfolio making the information readily available to users. The table of contents page can even include links for the user to access. Also in a portfolio, documentation of personal information can be found. By providing personal information one provides the viewer with a better understanding about what the writer does. This personal information can be presented in a variety of ways. Written text about the writer, pictures, and slide shows are all examples of ways the writer could display personal information. Portfolios should also have artifacts. Another area that should be present in a portfolio is a permission statement. The permission statement will let the viewers know that you have permission to post the students' work. A reference page is also a very important part of a portfolio. Credits should be listed for all person who contributed to the portfolio.
